(*) FANALYTICS: Fun with meaningless numbers

This week on the Sirius/XM Fantasy Sports Radio channel, former major league player Cliff Floyd made the following comment about the return of Hanley Ramírez. I'm paraphrasing: "I don't care if he boots a few balls if he's also hitting bombs."
It got me to thinking... what is an acceptable number of errors? When evaluating players, can we really use the "positive" of home runs to offset the "negative" of fielding miscues?
Intuitively, this seems like it might make some sense. Errors only serve to put an opposing batter on base. Some will score, some will not. A home run has a far more dramatic positive impact. Of course, it is going to vary by position, but maybe there is something here.
