Wise fantasy owners know that there is more to assessing MLB matchups than simply differentiating "good lineups" and "bad lineups." Because while some lineups are better overall than others, most lineups have their own set of idiosyncrasies that need to be understood. And fantasy owners who recognize the specific strengths and weaknesses of an MLB lineup have a much better chance of maximizing the production of their starting pitchers over the course of a long season. While lineup trends are constantly evolving, here are some of the notable splits (platoon; home/road; strikeout tendencies) that fantasy owners should recognize from the initial weeks of 2018:
