Often an afterthought in fantasy leagues, skilled setup men are currently carrying more fantasy value than ever before. Check out these points of evidence:
1. Just 11 pitchers compiled 30 of more saves last season, which was the lowest number of any year since the strike-shortened campaign of 1994. With bullpen volatility at an all-time high, skilled setup men are more likely than ever before to slide into ninth-inning gigs.
2. In 2017, starters threw fewer total innings than in any season since 1995. With starters contributing fewer frames, 65-70 innings from a skilled setup man will weigh more heavily on the final ERA and WHIP for fantasy squads.
3. The major league-wide ERA in 2017 was 4.35, which was the highest mark in a decade....
