High ADP, low skills: 2026 BABS says "Pass"

The wise saying goes…”we might not win our league with our first few picks, but we certainly could lose it.” Knowing which players to pass on, therefore, is a critical component of our BABS draft plan. 

As examples, a year ago BABS warned against Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the first round and William Contreras in the second. Not because BABS was foretelling a poor year from either, more so because the market had pushed them too high relative to their asset classes. 

Asset groups help us avoid those players being selected in the early rounds who have insufficient skills (or too much risk, as Ron Shandler outlined here) to justify their lofty prices. Let us look at this year’s players with ADPs too high in the first...
