ALTERNATIVE: Rookie SS drive deep simulation draft pool

Each year we review the draft pool for redraft simulation leagues (Strat-O-Matic, APBA, Diamond Mind) with a similar mantra—trade current picks for good cards if you are a contender. The 2015 season, however, yielded the deepest crop of rookies we have seen in recent memory. As a result, all teams can look to the rookie draft for help now and in the future. Ironically, the only thing missing in the draft is the usual surplus: the bullpen.

Simulation leagues look backwards at performance, using the most recently completed season’s statistics to manage your team. Like playing chess, where each piece can move in a distinct manner, each simulation owner calculates the odds each player will perform as he did the past season to construct and...
