ROTISSERIE: Breaking the rules

In the weeks leading up to Draft Day fantasy owners are deluged with advice. Some of it is good, some of it is bad and much of it is in the form of rules or heuristics to follow. These rules can have a lot of merit if they come from a good source and you are not playing against top-level competition.
Once you gain experience in fantasy baseball, it is time to learn when to break the rules. Of course, the rules become rules because they have some merit—perhaps a lot of merit—so breaking them can lead to trouble if not done judiciously. On the other hand, some rules are made to be broken so often that they should not even be cited as a rule anymore.
