ROTISSERIE: End of May roster assessment

Two down, four to go. If the baseball season is a marathon, we’ve run from Yankee Stadium to Citi Field. It’s no longer early but there’s still a lot that can happen. What follows is some suggestions on assessing your squad and tips on how to manage going forward.

THE STANDINGS

Let’s begin by getting peace of mind. Here’s a couple of quick exercises that should convince you the standings are still very transient.

1. Go to your favorite newspaper or web site and look at the real major league standings. Is that really how the divisions are going to end up? In order for them to better match expectations, some teams will play better while others will play worse. This means some players will improve while others will fall off.
