ROTISSERIE: July assessment—A refresher

Muscular July approaches stealthily, on sharply-clawed feet, ready to pounce. Is it time to panic?

End of April, we cautioned patience.  End of May, our colleague Todd Zola offered us “peace of mind” because fantasy seasons are a marathon, not a sprint.

But with nearly half the season now gone, fantasy owners not safely ensconced at the top of the standings may legitimately begin to panic … err, take direct action! 

Don’t believe me?  Ron Shandler has written about research on traditional Rotisserie leagues, demonstrating that only 3% of teams in the bottom third of the standings on July 1 win their leagues.  Further, only 11% of eventual winners are not already in the money (with only 22% not at least in second place) by then.  So—Yes,...
