ROTISSERIE: Speeding toward September

This week marks the three-quarter point of the 2023 MLB regular season. At the end of day on Sunday August 13, MLB teams had played an average of 118.5 games (73% of the season), and all will have at least 120 games played by the time this is published.
As noted in the title, we are also moving closer to September, when teams are allowed to add up to two players (no more than one pitcher) to the major league roster. This gives an opportunity for teams to use one of those added roster slots for a prolific base-stealer to enter games as a pinch runner/ defensive replacement for everyday players as the season winds down. We’ll look at some possible roster additions at the end of this article.
