Target drafting usually refers to the tactic of setting statistical goals in each category with the objective of assembling a team that meets or surpasses these targets. The goals are designed such that if they are reached, ample points are accrued to finish in first place. Many swear by the method and have had very good success employing it.
But there’s something about the concept that is troublesome. Is there really any difference between drafting a player to best reach a statistical goal, or drafting a player you feel will help your team the most? Proponents of the strategy will contend that if nothing else, it helps promote balance, most notably between power and speed—and that’s reasonable. However, isn’t it possible to become so...
