DAILY MATCHUPS: Bieber tries to dodge the rain

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: Today’s 15-game slate is threatened by rain in three locations – Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Detroit. None of these spots are doomed for postponement, but we do need to keep an eye on how potential rain might affect starting pitchers.

 

Notable Starts:

Shane Bieber, for instance, could see his contest-leading score reduced if the timing of rain in Cleveland interrupts his outing against the Guardians. They’ve clinched a playoff slot and have no incentive to risk their ace’s arm in a meaningless preview of a possible Wild Card series. If Bieber does make a full, uninterrupted start, he projects for the best ERA, WHIP, and victory odds of the slate. He shoulders one of the top workloads in the league.
