DAILY MATCHUPS: Burnes aims to Cease slump

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: Weather won’t affect today’s seven-game slate. Contests begin sporadically from 1:15pm through 9:40pm ET. The Giants and Brewers play a doubleheader in Milwaukee.

 

Notable Starts:

Corbin Burnes is in the midst of a dreadful slump – at least by his standards. Since the beginning of August (seven starts), he has a 5.26 ERA with 9.15 K/9, 3.43 BB/9, and 1.37 HR/9. There isn’t any obvious evidence of an injury or other major issue. This is probably just a rough patch. He’ll host the Giants, a decidedly mid-tier offense in nearly every way. Per the Pitcher Matchup Tool, Burnes is the likeliest to lead each category today.
