DAILY MATCHUPS: Nola and Bieber top a thin Thursday

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: With only eight games and a number of fringy pitchers on the schedule, it’s officially a thin Thursday. Besides heat and the Wrigley winds, weather shouldn’t affect any of the games.

Notable Starts:

Aaron Nola is on a roll, tossing seven or more innings over his last four starts while averaging 28 batters faced. A matchup against the Braves isn’t terribly imposing at the moment – they’re missing Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuña. Atlanta is one of three teams with worse than a 25 percent strikeout rate. Nola isn’t immune to the occasional clunker. In fact, five of his 15 starts could be described as poor. Those are easily offset by his quality outings as evidenced by a 2.98 ERA and 0.90 WHIP.
