Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: We have a nearly-full, 13-game schedule with the first game beginning at 12:35 p.m. Rain could dampen the enthusiasm in Cleveland, but the risk isn’t too high as of this writing.

 

Notable Starts:

Clayton Kershaw is coming off a couple mediocre outings. One was at Coors Field, which can be excused. The other occurred against the Giants, the same team he faces today. There’s evidence pitchers fare worse when facing the same team twice in a row. You might figure that would also apply when facing the same club twice within two weeks, but that correlation isn’t as clear. In any event, the Giants can be tough and have proven so to Kershaw in the recent past. He still rates as the top pitcher today largely...
