DAILY MATCHUPS: Valdez tabbed with big rating for start against Angels

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: Thursday’s slate is an abbreviated one. Seven games are on the docket; four of those are afternoon affairs. Warm weather is in the forecast for most venues. Rainy conditions could be what the Guardians and Twins are dealing with in an evening contest in Minneapolis. There is an above-average allotment of good pitchers twirling on this first day of June.

Framber Valdez has gone seven-plus innings in four of his last seven starts. Valdez owns a 2.68 ERA over that stretch. Albeit in back-to-back starts against the woeful Oakland Athletics, he’s allowed just one run over his last 15 IP. Current LAA batters own a whiff-heavy .668 OPS against the Houston port-sider.
