DAILY MATCHUPS: Verlander opens the season in frigid Minnesota

Today's schedule overview:  This is what should be known as the "official" Opening Day in Major League Baseball.  Most teams—24 to be exact—have their openers today. The day kicks off on the east coast with two early-afternoon games in New York (BOS-NYY, SD-NYM) and ends on the West Coast in Oakland (against Seattle) and in Arizona (against St. Louis).  Today also marks the beginning of the rolling interleague schedule, starting in Cincinnati where the Reds host the Angels.  As is usually the case on opening day, there are games in cold weather cities, which should be a shock to the players used to the warmth of spring training.  It will be unseasonably cold at Target Field in Minnesota and at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, with...
