AL Central: Sweeney battling for roster spot

After he was acquired from the Dodgers at the trade deadline, Trey Sweeney (SS, DET) got most of the starts at shortstop the rest of the way, and he slashed .218/.269/.373 in 119 PA. He is battling for the starting job this spring, going 4 for 18 with a homer so far, with recent reports indicating there's a realistic chance he opens the season back at Triple-A.

The two other top candidates to handle shortstop duties are Javier Báez (SS, DET) and Zach McKinstry (SS, DET). Báez boasts a woeful .566 OPS across 836 PA over the past two seasons and isn't likely to provide much value to his team or fantasy managers at this point in his career.

McKinstry, meanwhile, has swiped 16 bags in each of the past two seasons, and did so...
