AL Central: Báez may be option in banged-up Tiger OF

Detroit Tigers

As of Opening Day, and with Parker Meadows (OF, DET), Matt Vierling (OF, DET) and Wenceel Pérez (OF, DET) all out due to injuries, the team's plan in center field still was't quite clear. In a perfect world, Riley Greene (OF, DET) would man left field on most days, but he started 189 games in center over the past three seasons (21 in 2024). He may be pressed into action there frequently until someone else emerges or returns from the IL.

Manuel Margot (OF, DET) was recently signed and could be an option when the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. But it has been reported he's viewed as more of a corner outfielder, and at this point in his career, he isn't really worthy of anything close to a full-time role.
