AL West: Effects of the 2026 WBC

On the cusp of World Baseball Classic, we asked our PT TOMORROW writers this week to reflect on how the players moving to WBC camps will affect each MLB team (job battles, lineup decisions, extended looks at non-WBC players) over this stretch in March.

Significant WBC participants: Denzel Clarke (Canada), Carlos Cortes (Puerto Rico), Darell Hernaiz (Puerto Rico), Luis Severino (Dominican Republic)

Spring training effects: The A’s have 12 players leaving camp for the WBC, but only a handful may have a major influence on future playing time. The main benefactors could be in the outfield with Denzel Clarke and Carlos Cortes playing in the WBC.
