The Mariners have a logjam brewing in the infield with the promotion of Colt Emerson. He has played shortstop when J.P. Crawford has been out with an injury, but has primarily played third base while Brendan Donovan has been on the IL. Emerson has not lit the world on fire offensively, hitting .250 with a home run and three doubles over his first eight games. Heck, he only has hits in three of eight games. He is showcasing an 188 PX and a 78 xPX to go with a 50% fly ball rate, so more power could be in play for Emerson.
If Emerson starts to hit consistently, the Mariners will have a decision to make when Donovan returns in a few weeks. Crawford is the veteran, likely going nowhere, but he’s hitting .199 with a .245...
