AL West: Jacob Melton, Houston LF?

The left field position continues to be surrounded by questions. The Astros have signed Ben Gamel, they may play Mauricio Dubón out there, and even Jose Altuve is getting reps in left field. Altuve in left field is a dicey situation, as he has never played the position and is getting older, so the move to the outfield may be less than ideal. With so many question marks, we have reasons to dig deeper for a potentially better option.

The Astros do not seem likely to spend money to fix the left-field question mark, so what “in-house” options do they have? Zach Dezenzo was once a possibility, which may still happen, but those rumors have quieted down. Jacob Melton seems to have some serious viability.
