NL West: Bernabel in-line for regular playing time

Rockies 1B/3B Warming Bernabel has started ten straight games at 1B since making his major league debut on July 26, and looks to be set to continue to see regular playing time with the demotion of 1B Michael Toglia to Triple-A Albuquerque on August 3. The twenty-three-year-old Bernabel was not a well-known prospect entering the season, but had a solid four months at Albuquerque in his first taste of Triple-A. He hit .301/.356/.450 with 8 HR in 315 PA to punch his ticket to Colorado.

Bernabel has taken advantage of his opportunity, hitting .400/.415/.775 with 3 HR and 4 2B in just 41 PA. He has never hit more than 14 HR in a season in the minors, so his initial power is somewhat of a surprise. He has benefitted from a 41%...
