DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: AL Central—Kazmir emerges as rotation favorite

Scott Kazmir (LHP, CLE) appears to have the inside track for the Indians fifth rotation spot behind Justin Masterson (RHP, CLE), Ubaldo Jiménez (RHP, CLE), Brett Myers (RHP, CLE), and Zach McAllister (RHP, CLE). Kazmir has pitched well this spring, splitting his time between Cactus League games and minor league games. He's made five total starts and only given up runs in one of them. His fastball was consistently in the 88-92 mph range in his most recent start. Kazmir had an excellent run with Tampa Bay from 2005 through 2008, twice making the All-Star team.
