DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK - AL East: Is Fernando Rodney's magic wearing off?

Order has been restored to the world. Fernando Rodney (RHP, TAM) cannot find home plate.

The Tampa Bay closer has put together a couple of clean outings since blowing a save May 6. But on the season, Rodney now has 10 BB in his first 12 2/3 IP after walking only 15 in 74 2/3 IP last year. This year’s walk rate is more in line with the levels Rodney had posted prior to his surprising 2012, during which many suspected the magic could wear off at any time.

A change in Rodney’s role is not exactly imminent; the failed May 6 conversion was Rodney’s first blown save of the season. However, a demotion could eventually come if Rodney cannot get his control in check.

Joel Peralta (RHP, TAM) would appear to be the clear cut Plan B...
