Between the trade of Emilio Bonifácio (IF/OF, KC) and the disabled-list stint of Colby Rasmus (OF, TOR), an ample number of ABs has opened up in the Blue Jays outfield. Had the Blue Jays been a contender, as they had hoped, the situation would have been tailor-made for Rajai Davis (OF, TOR) to go on another stolen-base binge, as he did when he swiped 20 bases in a 25-game stretch between June 28 and August 4.

Toronto’s status as a non-contender, however, is the fly in the ointment. On August 16, the first team’s first game since the arrival of Anthony Gose (OF, TOR), the Blue Jays’ lineup featured Gose in center and Kevin Pillar (OF, TOR) in left, and the Blue Jays may well use much of the season they have left to...
