DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: NL East—Nolasco's time with MIA nearing an end?

Miami Marlins

Ricky Nolasco (RHP, MIA) has seen his name come up in numerous trade rumors in recent days. Given his contract status—he’s due $11.5 million in 2013, the final year of his contract—and the rebuilding status of his team, it’s highly likely that he will be dealt by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. The 30-year-old has certainly pitched well enough to draw interest from contending teams (3.68 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 6.9 Dom and 2.2 Ctl in 100 IP).

Meanwhile, Henderson Alvarez (RHP, MIA) pitched very well in his first rehab start for Double-A Jacksonville, his third rehab start overall, on June 23 (6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K). He is expected to make at least one more rehab start before joining the starting rotation.
