DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: NL East—Ramos on fire since coming off DL

We mentioned previously that Wilson Ramos (C, WAS) would take over as the primary catcher for the Nationals and possibly by a larger than expected margin. That has been the case, as Ramos has started nine of the team’s twelve games since the All-Star break. The heavy workload does not seem to have slowed him down (.322/.355/.576 with 4 HR, 17 RBI and 143 PX in 59 AB). Of course, it’s a very small sample size and a 50% hr/f, 16% FB% and 61% GB% give us reason to be skeptical of the HR output going forward. But if he can stay healthy, he should continue to get the nod over Kurt Suzuki (C, WAS) most days.

Suzuki’s 2013 season looks eerily similar to his 2012 campaign. In 408 AB last year, he managed a .235/.271/.328...
