DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: NL West—Kemp nears return

Los Angeles Dodgers 

Matt Kemp (OF, LA) began a rehab assignment August 29, and appears near activation from the disabled list. The Dodgers are likely to be cautious, given their large lead in the division, so he probably won't be an everyday player in September. In fact, look for them to find ways to give all of their regulars a day off here and there. At least one of Kemp, Carl Crawford (OF, LA), Andre Ethier (OF, LA), and Yasiel Puig (OF, LA ) will find themselves on the bench each day. It will occasionally be more, as the Dodgers prepare for the playoffs, while also getting a look at some youngsters, such as Scott Van Slyke (OF, LA), in September.
