The defending National League East Champions just cannot catch a break on the injury front this season. This week the injury hits kept coming with news that starting pitcher Max Fried was headed to the injured list with neuritis followed immediately with news that star second baseman Ozzie Albies had fractured his wrist trying to tag out Michael Siani as he stole second base. 

Albies is estimated to be on the injured list for eight weeks so the Braves signed veteran utilityman Whit Merrifield before promptly losing him to injury as well. This time of the freak finger-wounded-during-fielding-practice variety. It all culminated in Atlanta to promoting one of their top prospects: Nacho Alvarez Jr.
