To call the Mets fanbase mercurial would be an affront to Mercury himself. The Queens faithful cycle through emotions faster than an over-caffeinated teen going through a breakup. Yet, Mets fans in 2025 have been treated so far to a season largely unencumbered by the traditional triggers of their infamously ingrained neuroses. Sure, there have been injuries and cold streaks, leading to reactions online and on the airwaves ranging from the refreshingly sober to full-blown Wilpon-era freakouts. But the team has been playing so well, their offseason gambles paying off so handsomely, that whatever handwringing we’ve seen has been mostly vestigial and less a reflection of legitimate concerns.
