NL West: Del Castillo off to hot start for ARI

Diamondbacks C Gabriel Moreno was placed on the IL with a left adductor strain on August 6. Aside from a previous June IL stint, Moreno has seen close to everyday action behind the dish this season prior to this injury. The Diamondbacks are hopeful he can return before the end of the regular season, but he will certainly miss several more weeks.

Switch-hitting C Jose Herrera has served as Moreno’s primary backup, hitting .229/.327/.271 with 0 HR across 60 PA and was expected to get most of the action while Moreno was sidelined. Herrera has started just 6 of the 14 games since Moreno was sidelined and appears to be sliding into the weakside of a platoon.
