NL West: Fermin seizes starting C role

After a very active trade deadline that saw the Padres acquire three position players, they have settled into a regular lineup rotation with all three of the acquired players serving as everyday or close to everyday players. 

The acquisition of C Freddy Fermin has solidified the Padres' offensive production at the C position. Since being acquired he has become the Padres' regular C, starting eight out of 10 games since his Padres debut on August 2. Fermin is off to a very strong start with the Padres, hitting .370/.414/.519 over 30 PA. C Elias Díaz, who has hit just .198/.266/.300 over 241 PA as the Padres' primary C prior to Fermin being acquired, has now been relegated to a true backup role.
