NL West: Marco Luciano looking to take advantage of opportunity in SF

Despite being just 22-years old, Giants prospect Marco Luciano was widely expected to be the team's starting SS coming out of spring training. After he was slowed by a hamstring injury and struggled at the plate, however, the Giants signed veteran SS Nick Ahmed, who beat out Luciano for the starting spot. Luciano started the season at AAA-Sacramento, where he hit .266/.399/.344 in 158 PA. He was recalled from Sacramento on May 14 to provide bench depth when C Patrick Bailey hit the 5-day concussion IL.
