NL West: Playing time takeaways in an unexpectedly mediocre division

In reviewing the Rockies’ playing time trends, quite a few previous assumptions can be confirmed. In recent articles, we have written of the sneaky, near-everyday contributions from TJ Rumfield (see PT Tomorrow from April 11th) and Troy Johnston (see PT Tomorrow from April 25th). Both have been surprisingly valuable assets this season, and their playing time metrics confirm they are a major part of manager Warren Schaeffer’s plans. Rumfield is second on the team in plate appearances per week (PAAW) at 21.9, just one-tenth of a PA below team leader Mickey Moniak. He also leads the team in starts each week he’s been active (4.9 SAW, just over Moniak and Ezequiel Tovar at 4.8 SAW) and is one of the core five players...
