A revamped setup crew for closer Alexander Colomé (RHP, CHW), has been paying dividends for the South Siders thus far in 2020. Evan Marshall (RHP, CHW) is established as the top right-handed setup guy with seven holds through August 30, showing elite first pitch (63% FpK) and swinging (15% SwK) strikeout rates. Marshall’s 2.77 ERA is also fully supported in 2020 with a 3.04 xERA. Right behind/ ahead of Marshall is Jimmy Cordero (RHP, CHW) with six holds, built on better control of a speedier fastball (but with fewer strikeouts and slightly higher decimals).
