The third base job is still up for grabs, with left-handed hitting Nick Maton (OF, DET) possibly having a leg up for the strong side of a platoon to open the season. He has shown some decent power in the majors the past two seasons, with 7 HR and a 123/109 PX/xPX combo in 216 PA. But Maton sports a 64% ct% during that time and hasn't shown the same pop in Triple-A, with 10 HR in more than 500 PA over the same timeframe.

Ryan Kreidler (3B, DET) is also in the mix and has a strong defensive reputation, and speed from a corner infielder (15 SB in 250 PA at Triple-A) gives him at least some appeal. But he didn't steal any bases in his 84 PA debut with the Tigers, and he also didn't hit at all, as shown by his .178/.244/.233...
