After throwing a 50-pitch bullpen session on Saturday, August 11, Michael Fulmer is very close to starting a rehab assignment, which means he's that much closer to making his return to the Detroit rotation. His return later this month will almost certainly bump either Blaine Hardy (LHP, DET) or Artie Lewicki (RHP, DET); Hardy seems to have the edge to stay, with a lower ERA (3.63 to Lewicki's 4.76), and superior skills marks in xERA, Cmd, and BPV. However, those actual numbers—a 4.44 xERA, 2.8 Cmd, and 77 BPV—don't make Hardy an appealing target outside of deep leagues, and it's very possible the 31-year-old will find himself back in the bullpen in 2019, which is where he has spent the majority of his five seasons in the...
