Adam Engel (OF, CHW) was called up on July 19, replacing the simultaneously demoted Charlie Tilson (OF, CHW). Engel was immediately installed as the starting CF and responded with 4 H, 2 R, 1 RBI, and 1 SB in 8 AB. What’s the angle on Engle?

Although he broke camp with CHW, a slow start led to his demotion on May 4: .250/.318/.400, 9 R. 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 SB in 60 AB. Those numbers weren’t even that bad, but his 34.3% K% left much to be desired. Strikeouts have been a problem at the MLB level (66% ct%, 0.16 EYE); that, coupled with his low Exit Velocity (82.8 mph), has led to a 61 HctX and .193 xBA. So how have the White Sox seen fit to give Engel 790 AB in the majors over the past three seasons?
