Like most teams, the Twins have several options in camp to cover the gap between the top starters and late-inning relievers. The team recently signed free agent Matt Shoemaker (RHP, MIN) to join Randy Dobnak (RHP, MIN), Devin Smeltzer (LHP, MIN), Shaun Anderson (RHP, MIN), and Jorge Alcala (RHP, MIN) in the middle innings pool, although Shoemaker may get the first chance at the fifth spot in the rotation. 

Shoemaker’s F Health grade is a reminder that “chronically injured pitchers never get healthy”, so his current innings projection is muted as a result. He was only able to accumulate 167 innings across the past four seasons, suffering two forearm strains, a torn ACL, and shoulder inflammation, but when healthy, he has...
