PT TOMORROW: AL Central—Full-time AB for Aaron Hicks?

The Twins provided Aaron Hicks (OF, MIN) with a vote of confidence when Byron Buxton (OF, MIN) was activated from the DL and sent to Triple-A Rochester. In a recent Fact/Fluke column, Matt Gelfand pointed out that since taking over after Buxton’s injury, Hicks has been hitting better than he ever did during his previous MLB call-ups. Hicks has hit .316/.380./526 with 5 HR and 3 SB in 114 AB since July 3rd. The Twins know that Buxton will play a major role in the future, but they may allow Hicks to continue playing regularly to see if he can sustain this level of performance and also be a part of their 2016 plans. In any case, expect Buxton to be a September call-up.
