Yoenis Céspedes (OF/DH, DET) and J.D. Martinez (OF, DET) have the corner outfield spots locked down for the Tigers. It will be interesting to see how the centerfield playing time is split between Anthony Gose (OF, DET) and Rajai Davis (OF, DET). Manager Brad Ausmus has suggested that Gose will be the primary centerfielder, and as a left-handed hitter Gose is on the strong side a platoon with the right-handed Davis. However, on Opening Day Davis started and led off over Gose against the right-handed Phil Hughes (RHP, MIN). Davis, the major league leader in SB from 2009-2014, never seems to have a clear path to playing time at the beginning of each season, but he has returned over $20 in five of the past six years.
