Derrick Boyd concludes in the August 7 Facts / Flukes that Miguel Cabrera's (1B, DET) results have likely been a fluke. Cabrera has also been bothered by numerous ailments that may be affecting his swing mechanics and timing. With the Tigers out of contention, the team could choose to rest him often over the balance of the season.
Triple-A Toledo's Efren Navarro, Jr., (1B, DET; pictured above) has emerged from a two-month slumber (.234 BA in 197 AB between May and June) to a return to respectability. Since July 1, he has batted .328 with four HR on an 80% ct% and 10% bb%.
