The White Sox's acquisition of Yonder Alonso (1B, CHW) creates a 1B/DH logjam with José Abreu (1B, CHW) and Daniel Palka (OF/DH, CHW), and further drives down the team’s aggregate batting average. Only Abreu (Mayberry score 3245) offers a positive batting average score (4, the third digit), while the rest of the current projected Opening Day roster checks in with a 2 grade or lower. 

The other off-season position player acquisition—James McCann (C, CHW)—fits right in with the new organization with a Mayberry batting average score of 0, splitting time with returnee Wellington Castillo (C, CHW) and his Mayberry BA score of 1.
