PT TOMORROW: AL Central—Swisher’s return has domino effect

Cleveland Indians

Nick Swisher’s (DH/1B, CLE) return from the DL will have playing time implications for several players. The switch-hitting Swisher will likely quickly take over as the full-time DH from the David Murphy (DH/OF, CLE)/ Ryan Raburn (DH/OF, CLE) platoon Cleveland has been using recently. The Indians hope the 34-year-old Swisher can return to the power-hitting form he displayed from 2005 through 2013, when he hit 20+ HR nine years in a row. During that run, his PX was well above league average ranging from 117 to 167. The Indians will be cautious with Swisher’s surgically repaired knees and he may not regain the OF eligibility he has earned in recent years right away.

Both Raburn and Murphy will be relegated to reserve...
