PT TOMORROW: AL East — In BOS, is this end of Arroyo's story?

Boston Red Sox

Trevor Story (2B, BOS) recently joined the Red Sox in Pittsburgh, where he was observed taking batting practice and hitting off a machine, suggesting that a rehabilitation assignment is near at hand.

Yet, as Stephen Nickrand noted in a recent edition of Batters Buyers Guide, Christian Arroyo (2B, BOS) has been more than holding his own in the second half, hitting the ball with authority and showing better plate skills.

Can the Red Sox lineup accommodate both Arroyo and Story?

Well, not easily.

In theory, Boston could sit the red-hot Alex Verdugo (OF, BOS) against left-handed pitching, given his career .684 OPS vL.

But the Red Sox already have a player fairly capable of filling such a role in Rob Refsnyder (OF, BOS)...

Almost!
