How far away is Clay Buchholz (RHP, BOS) from being designated for assignment?

For one, Eduardo Rodriguez (LHP, BOS) acquitted himself well in his return to the Red Sox rotation July 16 after making mechanical adjustments in the minors, earning a win over the Yankees (7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 K).

Also, Joe Kelly (RHP, BOS) — earmarked for a role as a multi-inning reliever — appears to be nearing a return, having struck out the side in the ninth inning of a scoreless, two-inning appearance for AAA-Pawtucket July 15.

Junichi Tazawa (RHP, BOS) will also reportedly be activated today, the first day he is eligible,...
