PT TOMORROW: AL East — How to be on Kutt-ing edge in second half

Like my Playing Time Tomorrow colleagues, I was asked to identify one player on each AL East team who could emerge in the second half. With the Red Sox, my pick is Kutter Crawford (RHP, BOS).

To be sure, this pick is partly due to the dark cloud that continues to follow Chris Sale (LHP, BOS), now set to miss several weeks after undergoing surgery to address a broken pinkie on his pitching hand. Sale's injury has the potential to create opportunity in the Boston rotation in two ways.

In the near term, of course, there are innings that need to be filled. But also, Sale's injury may convince Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom that the Red Sox would be better served long term by being sellers at the trade deadline. In Michael...
