PT TOMORROW: AL East — In NYY, Bird struggles to get off the ground

While one young Yankee, Aaron Judge (OF, NYY), has put miles of distance between him and his slow start, socking 10 HRs in the past three weeks (many of the tape-measure variety), another, Gregory Bird (1B, NYY) is still trying to find his way.

While it might have not been unexpected for Bird to struggle initially after losing all of last season to shoulder surgery, he raised hopes that he would hit the ground running by going 23-for-51 with 8 HR in spring training.

However, Bird’s 6-for-56 start resulted in him being shuffled down to the bottom of New York’s lineup and will perhaps increasingly buy him a seat on the bench. Bird has struggled to make contact (63% ct%), though he has been selective, walking in 15 percent...
