Given that Isaac Paredes (2B, TAM) entered the June 21 game in which he homered three times batting .181, few fantasy managers may have benefited from the standout performance — unless, of course, they had been monitoring Paredes’ xBA, which portended better days ahead.

Paredes followed up by hitting a home run the following day as well, his sixth of the past month, a stretch during which his xBA of .302 is nearly 100 points higher than his actual BA .208, thanks to a 13% hit rate.

The question on fantasy managers’ minds, of course, is “what will this get Paredes?”

That is a question complicated by the fact that Tampa may soon — by the second week in July, perhaps — Brandon Lowe (2B, TAM), who figures to eat up most of...
