As noted in Playing Time Today, the seemingly imminent release of Hanley Ramírez (1B, BOS) will have playing time implications beyond the obvious: that Mitch Moreland (1B, BOS) essentially has been left with first base all to himself, though the team has informed Blake Swihart (C, BOS) that he should be prepared to man the position on occasion as well.

The way things would seem to break down is that against left-handed pitchers, two of Moreland, Jackie Bradley (OF, BOS) and Rafael Devers (3B, BOS) will sit, replaced in the lineup by Swihart and Eduardo Núñez (2B, BOS).

For what it is worth, Moreland stayed in the lineup May 26 and rewarded his manager with extra-base hits against both starter Sean Newcomb (LHP, ATL)...
